The characteristics of cutting tool structure design is the calculation of space angle difficult,complex shape drawing, shape of the same size fan. For the establishment of 3D model of complex shaped cutters, the researchers carried out 2 kinds of modeling methods: one is the comprehensive method, namelyequivalent edge method; two is the decomposition method, differential edge method, and thecomputer aided design (CAD) technology is applied to the design of cutting tool. At present, the application of many CAD software mainly has several kinds of UG, pro/e, I-DEAS, CAD software,after two times of the development of enterprises, to further improve its applicability. The software of the 3D solid modeling, graphic drawing, engineering analysis, numerical control processing,component assembly module in one, the formation of tool design software system more complete,has the strong function of solid modeling and programming. Simple calculation tool design,computer aided design and making, removed from the drawing tool of complex graphics, and can quickly design tool parameters, to improve the design level of tool.
